Mali Indigo Bolster Cushion

These handmade Mali Indigo Cushion, is made in the same traditional method that indigo has been made for over 1000 years and is crafted using vintage indigo fabrics. This cushion comes in a darker stained pattern of blue and creamy white tones and includes a high-quality feather insert.

Made by artisans of Mali, traditionally a base fabric is handwoven into long strips then sewn together to form a larger single piece if fabric.  African artisans’ hand-dye symbols into these fabrics in order to tell stories of their villages and African proverbs. Indigo has a long tradition of being used by West African warriors and hunters to camouflage themselves.

Characteristics of being vintage and handmade, include colour overdyeing, textile anomalies and minor repairs.

CARE: Cold wash in a delicate’s bag, however some colour loss may occur due to the vegetable dyes, which have not been chemically set. Therefore drycleaning is the preferred method of cleaning, to avoid colour loss.
