Ready to embrace the joy of spring in your home?

Ah spring, it brings out the best of pretty much everything. The weather’s warmer, the days are longer, and there’s a tantalising taste in the air of the summer that’s to come.

About the home it’s also a time to throw open the doors, re-imagine your space and reinvigorate it. It’s time to spruce things up, pare things back and refresh your home for the warmer months ahead.

So, let’s look at five home styling and rejuvenation tips for spring…

The thing about spring

Spring has long been renowned as a time to re-imagine your home. In fact, the concept of a good spring clean is almost a custom, and it’s one that dates back centuries.

By way of an aside, the tradition of spring cleaning has its roots in religious foundations and the northern hemisphere, according to Country Living.

In the Jewish faith, it coincides with the celebration of Passover in March and April, and in preparation, general cleaning takes place around the home.

In Christianity there’s cleaning in preparation for Easter around the same time, while the Greek Orthodox Church cleans house for a week leading up to Lent.

Meanwhile in Iran, cleaning the house is a custom before Persian New Year, which coincides with the first day of spring.

Pretty much any way you look at it, spring is seen as a time to clean up, clear out and reimagine your living space.

Bearing that in mind, here are some of our top tips to embrace the season of spring and that desire to rejuvenate your home…

Declutter

Spring is the ideal time to look around your home and start considering what serves a purpose in your life and what no longer fills a need.

That means it’s a great time to declutter, removing all those extraneous objects that we collect over time.

And here we’ll turn to Marie Kondo for a little inspiration, if an item no longer ‘sparks joy’ it’s time to let it go.

When you let go of the old, you create space to embrace the new.

What needs an update?

Armed with a fr4esh perspective provided by a declutter, it’s time to look at the bones of your home and any areas which are looking a little tired and outdated.

Perhaps a new coat of paint is in order, or maybe some fresh curtains and blinds? Now’s a great time to touch up areas that are feeling tired, with a small investment in colour and paint often reaping incredible results.

A bit of a refresh

Once you’ve pared back and tended to the backdrop, it’s time to add a fresh wow factor to your home, and doing so can be very simple and cost effective.

If you’re seeking to embrace a new look or fresh feel, turn your attention to the simple things that can inject colour or a different style.

Often this is as easy as soft furnishings, decorator items, artwork and perhaps a nice new feature piece of furniture.

Perhaps its new cushions, a modern rug, some nice artwork or decorator pieces that tie a room together but give it a new perspective.

The little things

As we’ve mentioned, often it’s the little things that can update and reinvigorate a home. As you’re looking for areas to change up, turn your attention to things like your table decorations and napery.

The dining room and eating areas have the potential to create a theme and feel for a home or tie an existing look together.

And don’t forget, with spring comes the opportunity for increased entertaining, which makes now the ideal time to give your dining area, dinnerware, glassware, napery, and settings a new lease on life.

Whether it’s a feature piece of furniture, some decorator items, or soft furnishings like rugscushions and throws, we have a range of stunning pieces that allow you to easily bring in a fresh sense of style and rejuvenation this spring.
